Slavery still exists, but now it applies only to Women: Prostitution

Secret of dark, defiled street in the city called Delhi, takes me to the place, where bodies are sold just for the sake of having one time meal!!!

"Sex is cheap; love comes at a great price."

G.B Road, Delhi flooded with a lot of sex-workers, and thousands of people are involved in this trade. I believe most of the women work here has come because they didn’t have any choice. They mostly come from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Nepal and are sold for money. The women who work here have hardly known what is love. For them it’s a way of earning their bread, they don’t believe in any kind of relations as some are ditched or being exploited. All they have been through is unbearable pain.

A Voice Of Prostitute:

I am not ashamed if I sell myself for getting “roti”! You work your way to earn and I work this way. I am from Manipur, and it’s been 6 years I am living in G.B Road.I was brought here by a person called Mahmood, he promised me to get a job and good life in Delhi; I came here when I was 16yrs and now I m 22!! I cried for months, no one was there to take me out! But soon my tears dried and the pain, I am used to it now, it doesn't matter anymore! I never felt the word called “love” , have just heard about it in movies. For me it doesn't exist only!
I have no choice may be that’s why I am here, my family left me as soon they got to know I am a “prostitute” I called up my mother but she never even received my call! Now this is my world I earn and live here.
Mahmood was a fake person, he didn't only bring me, but he lied to many others girls and this is his source of earning by selling us to the ‘naayika’, ( a senior sex worker) for a heavy sum of money. And when I started working here the naayika levied a loan on me.( For example, if a naayika buys a girl for 50,000 rupees, the amount thus paid has to be reimbursed by the girl herself) .Even I had to pay her half of my salary every month.
Life is not easy here, sex is the only thing we give and get!
There are no proper arrangements, no proper market, only hardware market exists. No parks, no playgrounds, we 3-4 women just live in small room. Earlier I used to get 7 customers a day now sometimes only 2. We have to take care of ourselves ,its the only way to get more customers. There are many girls who are not well, very sick, some are also HIV positive, as they can't earn for the naayika, they are dumped in one room to die.

This medicine is given to cattle to gain weight and here these women (prostitutes) take this to look healthier and attractive!!!!

Well as we heard above about the life of a prostitute, now what do we conclude?I personally do not say that sex is not important, but is it the only truth? Is it the only thing that matters? The concept of soul-mates is but a "lie". Do you think prostitution should be legalized? So that at least women out there can get better and basic facilities!!! Or does it hurt our moral values because at the end prostitutes are women which are never respected?
Prostitution usually refers to seeking sex for money, or vice- verse, or facilitating both. The traditional objection to prostitution is that sex is bad, prostitution is sex, and therefore prostitution is bad. Over the centuries, this has created an atmosphere in which many tend to assume that if one regards sex as good, then one logically would also regard prostitution as good.

To be continued.....

  6. Prostitution is already legal in India, But organized prostitution like pimping and Brothals are illegal.

I feel organised prostitution comes into picture when its not morally accepted by the society. Our society is responsible for creating this dark underworld.
Prostitution, Gambling and Boozing are three most oldest practices in any civilization its not easy to scrap it off entirety from the society (atleast for now), But it can be controlled and kept in bay,For that the people involved has to be morally accepted as a part of the society.
